The Northern Ireland Stroke Research Network has been formally approved by the Northern Ireland R&D Office, and its future plans include:
1. Establishing a comprehensive list of stroke leads and stroke units in Northern Ireland
2. Obtaining recruitment figures to stroke trials in Northern Ireland
3. Developing a research strategy
4. Establishing research priorities
5. Obtaining further information about industry funded trials in Northern Ireland
6. Participating in nationally funded studies, in collaboration with the UK SRN.
An interim executive committee is currently being established by Dr Michael Power and Dr Sheila Lennon-Fraser.
